Monstera care

Monstera deliciosa

Thirsty’s starting schedule for Monstera: about every 7 days. Check the soil and adjust it to your home.

Watering

Water thoroughly, then let the top inch or two of soil dry before watering again; UMN Extension says weekly for mature plants. Water less in winter. [1][2][3]

Light

Bright light without strong direct sun, or a medium-light spot; Wisconsin Extension says direct sun is fine in winter. In too little light the leaves don't develop holes. [1][2][3]

Humidity

Prefers medium to high humidity; leaf edges brown if the air is too dry, so a humidifier or a tray of wet pebbles helps. [2][3]

Soil and potting

A fertile soilless potting mix with plenty of root room. [2]

Pets

Toxic to cats and dogs; chewing it causes mouth burning, drooling and vomiting. [4]
