Thirsty is a houseplant watering reminder app made by sharpsan. This policy explains how Thirsty handles your information.
The short version
Everything you enter, your plants, notes and photos, stays on your device. The only thing Thirsty sends anywhere is a crash report when something goes wrong, and it contains nothing you've entered.
Information you enter
The plants you add, including names, rooms, notes, watering history, photos and your reminder time, are saved only in the app's storage on your device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. We have no servers of our own and no accounts. The Thirsty home screen widget reads plant names and watering dates from the same on-device storage.
If your device is set to back up apps (for example iCloud Backup or Android backup), your operating system may include Thirsty's data in those backups. Those backups are controlled by you and by Apple or Google, not by us.
Photos and camera
When you add a plant photo, Thirsty opens your device's camera or photo picker. Only the photo you choose is copied, resized, into the app's storage on your device.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No notification service or server is involved. You can turn reminders off at any time in your device's settings.
Purchases
Thirsty Pro is purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Those stores process your payment under their own privacy policies; we don't receive your payment details. The app checks your purchase on your device and remembers that Pro is unlocked.
Crash reports
When the app crashes, freezes or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry so we can fix it. A report says what went wrong and where in the app's code, and includes technical details: the app version; your device's model and operating system version; its language and time zone settings; its state at the time, such as free memory and storage, battery level, screen size and network type; a short log of recent app and system events, such as the app opening or the network changing; and a random ID for your install of the app. The app also tells Sentry when you open and leave it, so we can see how often it crashes. Sentry stores reports in the United States.
Reports don't include your plants, notes, locations or photos, your name, email address or account, or screenshots, and Sentry is set not to store the IP address a report comes from. If saving a plant fails, the app removes what you entered from the error before the report is sent. We use reports only to fix the app. They aren't linked to you, and Sentry deletes them automatically within 90 days.
Ads and tracking
Thirsty has no ads and doesn't track you across other apps or websites. Apart from crash reports, it has no analytics.
Children
Thirsty isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Deleting your data
Deleting a plant removes it and its photo from the app. Uninstalling Thirsty removes all of its data from your device.
Crash reports aren't linked to you, and Sentry deletes every report automatically within 90 days. To have yours deleted sooner, email contact@sharpsan.app with your device's model and roughly when the problem happened, and we'll delete the matching reports within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
