Cactus care

Cactaceae

Watering

In spring and summer, water thoroughly once the soil has dried and never leave the pot standing in water. In winter, give only enough to keep the plant from shriveling, often a light watering every few weeks. [1][2][3]

Light

Desert cacti need bright light; a sunny south- or west-facing window with several hours of direct sun is ideal. [1][2]

Humidity

Desert cacti cope well with the dry air of most homes. [1][2]

Soil and potting

A very free-draining mix, such as cactus potting soil or equal parts potting soil and coarse sand or grit, in a pot with drainage holes. [1][2]
