Bonsai care

Ficus microcarpa

Watering

Water regularly in spring and summer, letting the mix dry slightly between waterings, and keep it only just moist in winter. Avoid wet or soggy soil; overwatering can cause root rot and leaf drop. [1][2][3]

Light

Bright, indirect light. Direct afternoon sun can scorch the leaves, and low light makes it leggy. [1]

Humidity

Likes high humidity; mist the leaves or stand the pot over a shallow tray of pebbles and water. [1][2][3]

Soil and potting

A moist but well-drained bonsai mix with some added sand, pebbles or crushed granite. [1]

Pets

Mildly toxic to cats and dogs; eating it can upset the stomach, and it can irritate skin. [1]
