Amaryllis care

Hippeastrum

Thirsty’s starting schedule for Amaryllis: about every 7 days. Check the soil and adjust it to your home.

Watering

Water when the soil surface feels dry and keep the soil slightly moist, watering more often (once or twice a week) while it flowers and less after the flowers fade. Don't leave the pot standing in water. [1][2]

Light

Give it a sunny spot with at least four hours of direct sun a day; a south-facing window is best, with east or west next best. [1][2]

Soil and potting

Use a well-drained potting mix (equal parts peat and perlite works well) in a pot that drains well. [1][2][3]

Pets

Toxic to cats and dogs; the bulb is the most poisonous part. [4]
